We landed at Kadavu Airport and were greeted by Sim, Sicco and Liz, the owner, who all gave us a very warm welcome. Richard, the General Manager, expertly planned our days in conjunction with our wishes and also kept a close eye on weather conditions. You can spend your time relaxing in one of 6 magical Fijian style bures or 2 luxurious villas and play on one of the most beautiful beaches in Fiji. Oneta is a small family run eco-resort on one of the most untouched and beautiful islands in Fiji. The view from villa Lai Lai was stunning. Your warmth and kindness shines through in your every day actions and we feel humbled and incredibly lucky to have been a part of this.
When we were there, each room was provided with mosquito repellent, use it! We have two daughters 8 and 6 who are extremely energetic and enjoy making the most of every opportunity.
On a more typical review note the resort itself is lovely. “Real Fiji, Real Adventure” – Oneta Resort is unique among “resorts” as it is a place to immerse yourself in the environment, the culture, and the experience. The fresh seafood, organic produce and delicious dessert meant we looked forward to every meal. Our host’s innately organised approach and capacity to connect with each guest while cleverly managing her staff was refreshing, particularly after arriving from a weeks stay at another well-known, Fijian resort. One of our children did her first dive which was a fantastic experience with Sergi and Ale, who run the Dive Centre.
It is very remote, it’s a little wild, and it’s somewhat hard to get to – but that’s exactly the point. Please come by again on your next world trip! Every morning we woke to sun pouring through our open windows with a view of the turquoise water and a traditional drum beating to let us know it wasWe, a family with two daughters 10 and 13, spent about a week beginning of August 2019 at Oneta Resort. It was a lot of fun according to him! The kava ceremony evening with the traditional singing and fijian feast is unforgettable.
There were a few books and games in our villa which was great on a rainy day. This was a beautiful thing to see. It was particularly apparent to me that the staff are treated ethically and with care at all times.

The outdoor bamboo showers are a highlight. And many thanks to the owners, Richard and the whole team for their dedicated work and commitment to share but also preserve such a quiet and soulful paradise.It’s hard to know where to start when writing this review. Especially in the outskirts of Fiji's main island the people are incredibly friendly, non-pretentious, unsparingly helpful and Liz’s desire to make a difference by implementing innovations with the menu and activities showcased her insight and dedication to us all. That can be found in many places..... We wanted to engage with local communities and embrace Fijian life and we were were able to do just that at Oneta. I can honestly say our time at this resort exceeded all of our expectations. Ultimately it depends what sort of people you are.
