Population growth continues to accelerate and has come in above forecast recently due to better-than-expected migration trends.The combined impact is roughly 44,000 more Oregonians in the labor force in 2025 than previous outlooks implied. Female participation actually increased during the recession, moving from 59.5 percent in 2007 to 61.3 percent in 2011, before a sharper drop took hold and the female participation rate dropped to 55.6 percent in 2013.
Participation Rate Oregon's Youth and Young Adult Labor Force Participation Trends For more than two decades, the labor force participation rate (LFPR) - the percentage of the civilian non-institutionalized population that is either employed or unemployed - for Oregon's youth and young adult population has been on a general downward trend. Labor force participation among males dropped throughout the recession, from 72.3 percent in 2007 – just prior to the recession – to 65.9 percent in 2013.
